Keith McClure
Keith McClure has been a partner in the firm since 1978, and works out of our Carterton office, visiting Featherston on Wednesday afternoons. His areas of practice include property and commercial work, trusts and asset planning, employment law, civil litigation, and he is on the panel of Family Court lawyers available for Counsel for The Child appointment. Particular projects have included advising on formation of syndicated rural property investments.
Keith is married to Adrienne, a schoolteacher, and has two adult children. His outside interests include farming, skiing, tennis, flying, fishing and art collection.

Mark Hinton
Mark Hinton joined the firm from a
Hamilton
practice in 1989. Based in our Carterton office, he visits Featherston on Thursday afternoons. Mark’s main practice areas are property law for domestic, farming and small business clients with an added emphasis on resource management and local government law. Mark also manages the firm’s technology requirements with Infinity Business Systems.
Mark is married to Maria, who is a private Speech and Drama teacher in Masterton, and they have three adult children. Outside the office, Mark has an interest along with others in the firm - in a coastal sheep/beef farm, aviation, and an active role in the theatre, both on stage and technical. He is currently on the committee of Harlequin Theatre Inc. in Masterton, and has recently been involved in the Wellington Light Operatic Company’s production of The Mikado.
Mark has for many years been a member and chair of various School Boards and is currently a serving member of the Board of Proprietors of Solway College, Masterton.

Juliet Cooke
Juliet Cooke has been a partner in the firm since 1989. She works from our Greytown office, as well as visiting Featherston on Tuesdays. She specialises in property matters, wills and trusts, and handles the firm’s estate work.
Juliet is married to Ed and they have three adult children: Merran, a lawyer and professional oboist; Grayson, who lectures in multimedia at the
Central
Queensland
University
; and Wendell, who is a film censor. Juliet’s outside interests are tramping, gardening and music she plays the flute, sings in choirs, and organises and hosts house concerts for the Greytown Music Group. She and Ed, along with a pianist, play together as the Molewood Trio for weddings, birthdays and other occasions.

Juliet Cooke

CONSULTANTS
Ed Cooke
Ed Cooke has been a partner in the firm since 1970, and became
a consultant in 2010, working mostly from our Greytown office.
He specialises in property matters generally, and has particular
expertise in dealing with commercial buildings, unit titles,
plus wills and trusts. Ed is a Notary Public, so can witness
and certify documents for use overseas.
Ed is married to Juliet, and has three adult children. He plays
the violin and viola with the Vector Wellington Orchestra and
in chamber music groups, organises and hosts house concerts
for the Greytown Music Group and enjoys tramping and fishing.
He and Juliet also have an apple and pear orchard.

Jock Blathwayt
Jock Blathwayt is an associate of the firm and has been the mainstay of the firm’s Court practice for many years. He is based in our Carterton office, but spends a lot of time in Court at Masterton,
Wellington
and Palmerston North. He specialises in criminal proceedings, family work and litigation at all levels including the Court of Appeal.
Jock has three adult children, one of whom is a lawyer. His outside interests include golf, bridge and tennis and he enjoys spending time with his six grandchildren.

Kathryn Hayman
Kathryn practised law for several years in
Auckland
before coming to the Wairarapa in 2006 to enjoy a change in lifestyle. Joining WCM LEGAL initially as a staff solicitor, she became an associate of the firm in April 2007.
Kathryn specialises in all aspects of family law and regularly receives appointments from the Court as Lawyer for the Child. She has a Masters degree in law. Outside of work she enjoys travelling, personal fitness and reading and has a keen interest in the arts. She also holds a pilot’s licence.

Penny Elliott
Penny Elliott joined the firm in 2008 and works with Ed and Juliet Cooke in the Greytown office.
She grew up in Northern Wairarapa, and graduated from Victoria University before practising as a lawyer in Wellington for seven years, primarily in the areas of general conveyancing and family law. She achieved both partnership and associateship before taking 16 years maternity leave and migrating back to Wairarapa. While on maternity leave Penny worked as the administrator at Carterton School, and with her partner David, established a cidery and export apple orchard. She now works in the area of general property law.
Outside office hours, Penny looks after her children and helps
prune the family olive block. She occasionally manages to ski,
tramp, kayak (all badly) and read, and hopes to get back to

Virginia Pearson
Virginia is a staff solicitor in the Carterton office. She graduated from Victoria University in 2005 and worked for the Family Court for two years before joining the firm in 2008.
Virginia's predominant area of interest is family law, though she also works closely with others in the firm in areas of criminal law, civil litigation and general practice.

STAFF SOLICITOR
James Elliott
James Elliott joined WCM Legal as a staff solicitor in June
2010. He grew up in Wellington and graduated from Victoria University.
After practising in Wellington James moved to Sydney where
he worked for eight years in areas such as litigation, entertainment/media
law, intellectual property law and commercial law. This included
a period as in-house counsel for the Australian offices of a
major international corporation.
His previous experience will be invaluable as he continues
to work in litigation and commercial law here in the Wairarapa.
James is particularly interested in new ideas for start-up businesses
and branding issues.
As a keen diver he also hopes to take advantage of the regions
resources of paua and other shellfish. James and his partner
Nicky have settled in Greytown and have one daughter.
